About the book & Author

A bipolar (manic depressive) life. A man full of emotions, sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll. A Berlin rock band. Party drugs in the 90s. Long-term stays in China and the USA. As a patient he reports about the conditions in psychiatric hospitals. He tells us about failed relationships and longings. "I wanted to put on paper what would have helped myself to better understand the bipolar illness. Also, this reflection helps me process how I could have recognized these symptoms earlier and how they were affecing my emotions" With wry humor and clear language, the author knows how to entertain the reader. This is a trip you should take.

I was born in Berlin in 1972. In my childhood I was, due to family reasons, away from home and on the road. Professionally, I took a commercial path before switching to the creative field and studying media design. I decided to write a book after many years of suffering due to a manic-depressive (bipolar) illness. I lived extremely intensively and have a lot to process, writing helps me a little. I hope to have made a small, humorous contribution, for people and their loved ones. Have fun and get well soon.

Reviews

Sex, drugs, rock'n roll and the search for security! (Scarlett)

I was expecting a field report on bipolar disorder and depression. Usually an interesting, but also very dry material. Here it is different. The author takes you on his travels, you celebrate the wild parties with him and feel the deep pain that drags him down until his soul is covered with black tar. The book is fluid to read and the many exciting experiences make it an interesting read. My absolute reading recommendation! A book for all who want to think outside the box and be well entertained.

Chaos and depression in alternation. (Maid)

A great book. 👍 Maybe some readers think, wow, is he crazy or, does he mean it now seriously. Yes, who knows a little about psyche or perhaps suffers from a form (there are so many), who understands Nino and his book certainly. And if you don't, you can now dive into this world, into the chaos in the head of a manic depressive. I devoured the book. Hats off for the courage ,not only to write down the chaos and but also the depression, but also to publish it for ALL 👍 Thank you

Exciting, intense, worth reading! (Ute K.)

The book is exciting from the first moment, very emotional and also very funny written. At the same time, it gives an understandable insight into the disease and certainly contributes to a better understanding of it. Writing and publishing a book like this takes a lot of courage and energy. For this, the author deserves my utmost respect!

Rapid insights into the psyche (unknown - Amazon)

Nino Brodeur takes the reader on a fast-paced journey through his life, explaining how his bioplar disorder developed and how it feels when life becomes a roller coaster. The language is kept simple and clear, allowing the book to be read in one go. In quick jumps, sometimes packed into thematically single paragraphs, the author shows how fast thoughts sometimes race through his head. He does not mince words and openly describes his feelings. The fact that the author has a pronounced sense of humor despite his manic-depressive illness becomes clear in many places. Because if the work is also his report about a mental illness, Nino Brodeur makes the reader smile at the same time in many places. Through his narrative style alone, the author leads from one extreme to the other. Thus, at the end, the reader is not sure whether everything somehow turned out well.

A relentlessly honest story of life and suffering. 5 stars! (Kerstin Schmidt)

It is difficult for me to find the right words.... I was deeply touched by the author's unsparingly honest description of his life and suffering. Everything he has gone through, how he accepts his illness and deals with it, I can only take my hat off to that! A strong person... who is full of love for his family.... A book that not only moved me, but also entertained me very well. 5 stars and absolute reading recommendation!

Highly interesting to learn about the bipolar disease from the patient's point of view (Hendrick Görlich)

Nino writes in such a way that you can't put the book down. The deep insights into the disease provide an understanding that helps to better deal with it. A highly recommended overall value!
